WHAT IS IT?
Personal Care by it’s nature, is very personal. It is an intimate situation that has to be treated with the up most dignity and respect for the individual having Person Care. Personal Care involves the: Toileting, Washing and Dressing of an individual.
WHO IS IN NEED OF PERSONAL CARE?
Many of people with: limited mobilities, Dementia, low energy levels, frailties, people with sensory impairments and those with a Mental Health Conditions may find it hard to perform their own Personal Care.

WHAT IS THE IMPACT?
INDIVIDUAL:
May experence feelings of anxiety, low self esteem, depression, confusion and low energy levels. They may even display behaviour that challenges.
This is due to the fact that Personal Care, is very personal indeed. Many people do not wish to share these intimate, private moments with anyone.
FAMILY AND FRIENDS:
May feel awkward and unable to perform such intimate Care on their loved ones.
This can affect and change the relationships between the family members and loved ones.
CARE AND OTHER HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL:
Sometimes the individual recieving Personal Care does not wish for the Carer to support them. Some individuals recieving Personal Care can display behaviour that challenges towards Carers and make it difficult for them to complete the tasks at hand.
